Getty Images $2.4 Billion Take Over

A news release today has told of the future acquisition of Getty Images by a company called Hellman & Friedman LLC. It is estimated that the transaction will be worth $2.4 billion The full press release can be seen here.

iStockphoto, one of the major microstock agencies was itself only recently acquired by Getty in a deal said to be worth $50 million. No doubt there will be questions about what the future holds for this area of the market from buyers and contributors alike.

Hyperfocal Distance Made Easy


If you’ve been interested in photography for any length of time, especially landscape photography then you will have no doubt come across the term hyperfocal distance and its usefulness in obtaining maximum depth of field or front to back sharpness in any given photo.In simple and photographic terms, the hyperfocal distance is the focus distance of your lens when the nearest object in a scene remains acceptably sharp whilst still keeping everything in front of that all the way to infinity (or at least as far as you can see) acceptably sharp also.
