Where has Zmaos Abumpty Gone?

Hmmm… now where Zmaos has gone? He seems to have disappeared. Does this mean that Google have cottoned on to my post and deleted him from the search engine? Is Zmaos doomed to the list of ‘never to appear’ on Google or is he still indexed but I am getting cached results from before he was created? Only time will tell.

Zmaos Makes it to Google

Zmaos Abumpty is now listed in the the Google search results. And in only 22 minutes. :-)
Let me explain how this came about. I replied to a thread on a forum that asked a question about the number of results you get if you type your own name as a search query. Well for me it was around 200,000-300,000 depending on whether I used my full name of Paul John Morley or just my first and last of Paul Morley. If I used just my username that I use on most of the sites I contribute photos to, then it is around 12,200.

So I thought, how long does this indexing system take. Enter my new friend Zmaos Abumpty. The initial search returned zero results. And now 22 minutes later, Zmaos is indexed and appears. I guess this post will mean he gets 2 results in about half an hour or so.

Zmaos Abumpty

Do you ever wonder how long it takes for your blog post or forum thread takes to get indexed by search engines? So here I am writing a post about my imaginary friend Zmaos Abumpty. At the time of writing, he appears nowhere at all on a Google search, he must therefore be the most unknown imaginary person in the world. So I’m interested to see first of all how quickly this thread appears in Google but more interestingly, how many results we get over time.

You can help me out here by mentioning my friend Zmaos in any forums or blogs that you participate in. I’ll be giving regular updateson Zmaos Abumpty so stay tuned.
